Anafenza, the Foremost

A 4/4 for three across three colors is already a premium body, but the static ability stapled underneath is what defines the card: opponents' nontoken creatures and any creature card headed to their graveyard get exiled instead of dying. That clause is a wall built specifically against graveyard strategies. It shuts off recursion, reanimation, dredge, delve fuel, sacrifice value loops, and death triggers for the opponent, all without asking you to do anything but keep the legend on the battlefield. The hate is asymmetric: your own creatures die normally, so you keep your aristocrats and your own graveyard intact while the opponent's plan quietly evaporates. The attack trigger is the lesser half but tells you what the card wants to be doing: it grows a tapped creature you control, rewarding a board that swings wide so you have an attacker already committed to receive the counter. Most graveyard hate of this kind is a colorless artifact or a one-line enchantment that sits in a slot and does its job; folding the same effect onto an aggressive three-mana legend means the answer attacks for four while it shuts the opponent down. The cost is fragility: it is a single creature, so removal turns the lock off in an instant, and the body that makes it threatening is also what makes it a target. That tension between a beater you want to attack with and a hatebear you want to keep safe is the whole appeal.
