The green member of a five-creature cycle that paired a color's home-shade 2/2 with two kickers reaching into the enemy colors on either side, this one bills its add-ons to blue and black, leaning into a Sultai grindbox identity. Pay the kicker and the body arrives with a three-card discard, hard disruption stapled to a beater. Pay the
kicker and you get a peculiar piece of pseudo-removal: tap an untapped creature and force it to deal its own power as damage straight to its controller. That last detail is the one worth slowing down on, because the damage never touches the tapped creature at all; it goes to the player, which sidesteps the question of regeneration or indestructibility entirely while shrinking a blocker's window and pressuring a life total in a single trigger. Pay both kickers and both enter-the-battlefield triggers resolve off one cast, which is where the Battlemage frame earns its name: a midrange spell that charges per mode rather than locking you into one. Cast for its base cost it is a 2/2 with two dormant triggers, a modest body waiting on mana it cannot yet afford. The kicker tax is the whole architecture: a creature you can deploy as a curve-filler or hold back to fire as a three-color spell, sorting the patient manabase from the impatient one.
