Altar's Light

Instant2 generic manaWhite manaWhite mana

Exile, at the price of one extra white pip over Disenchant's 1 generic manaWhite mana and twice the converted mana cost. The trade is narrow but real: where Disenchant leaves its target in the graveyard, this version pays the premium to deny recursion entirely. Nothing crawls back through a Trash for Treasure or a graveyard-value engine, and indestructible buys the permanent no reprieve. That tradeoff is the whole design logic. In an environment thick with artifacts, where the things you most wanted to kill were the ones most likely to return, exile was the upgrade worth four mana. The instant speed is the part that ages well: it holds open as an answer to an equipment about to suit up or an enchantment that has just resolved a trigger, rather than committing the removal on your own turn. The cost is steep enough that it never displaced cheaper answers in the abstract, but the effect is the cleaner one, and the reason white keeps reaching for sorcery-speed or otherwise restricted versions of this effect elsewhere is that an unconditional instant-speed exile of two of the game's most resilient permanent types is genuinely hard to price.
