Alive // Well

Fuse is the mechanic that asked split cards to stop being either/or, and this pair shows the upside cleanly: cast Alive on its own as a fine green token, cast Well on its own as lifegain scaled to your board, or pay both costs together and let the Centaur you just made count toward the life you gain. That last sequencing is the whole design. The halves resolve so the left feeds the right within a single cast: the token arrives before Well counts creatures, so the fused cast always nets exactly two more life than Well alone would, on top of leaving a 3/3 behind. It is a small self-contained engine inside one card, and a tidy demonstration of why fuse cared so much about cost: the combined five mana buys a body plus a lifegain payoff that already factors that body in, which is more than two cheaper independent halves would give you separately. The split also hedges the dead-card problem that plagues situational effects. Well does nothing into an empty board, but you are rarely stuck casting it there, because Alive is always a live play on its own. As pure curve filler the parts are unremarkable; as an exercise in letting one card flex between proactive and reactive modes without ever sitting blank in hand, the seam between the two halves is doing the real work.
