Airborne Aid

Sorcery3 generic manaBlue mana

The tribal draw spell that backed the wrong tribe. Scaling a draw effect off the Birds on the battlefield is a perfectly fine rate at four mana when the board is full, and the same template later found real homes wherever a deep tribe could fill it. The trouble is the tribe printed on the card: Birds in this era were a scattered handful of evasive bears and flyers spread across two colors, never a cohesive deck, so the payoff almost never assembled enough creatures to count. Compare the structural cousins that worked. Slate of Ancestry rewards going wide regardless of type, and the per-Wizard and per-Soldier variants of this draw template sat beside tribes their sets actively pushed; here the type chosen was an afterthought, and the spell inherited that irrelevance. What the card teaches is the dependency at the heart of any board-state-scaled draw effect: the count is hostage to whichever creatures feed it, and the spell wants them cheap, numerous, and resilient. Birds in this period were none of those. So it survives as a flavor piece for the rare dedicated Bird build, a draw spell asking for a commitment the surrounding cards never gave the tools to make.
