Agent of the Fates

Creature — Human Assassin1 generic manaBlack manaBlack mana

Heroic was mostly built as a combat mechanic: point a pump spell at your guy, get a bigger guy, swing. This design takes the same trigger condition (any spell you cast targeting the creature) and points the reward at the opponent's board instead of your own, stapling an Edict onto every heroic trigger. That inversion reroutes the whole interaction toward protection spells rather than buffs. Answer an opponent's removal with a hexproof or regeneration effect and you keep your creature while each opponent sacrifices one of their own, flipping a clean kill into a two-for-one against the player who cast it. The deathtouch is the quiet half of the contract: a small body wants to trade up in combat regardless, so whatever survives the sacrifice still has to respect a blocker that kills anything it touches. The engine costs a card every time it fires, and the Edict carries the familiar weakness: opponents choose what dies, so a lone threat gets caught while a go-wide board coughs up its worst token. Even so, a repeatable opponent-sacrifice bolted to the exact protection spell you would already cast to keep the creature alive belongs to the small class of heroic bodies whose payoff outscales the spell switching it on.
