Aetherflame Wall
Shadow attackers slip past any blocker that doesn't share the keyword, which turned the mechanic into a clock fair decks couldn't interact with on the ground. This Wall is the dedicated answer, hate dressed up as a creature: a 0/4 that ignores the shadow restriction outright and plants itself in front of those otherwise-untouchable attackers. The pump ability is the tell it was never meant to merely chump. Defender keeps it home, but feeding red mana into it converts a stationary blocker into something that can eat an attacker outright, so a deck flush with mana late can trade the Wall up rather than spend a series of bodies chumping its way through. It is a narrow design by intent: the shadow clause does almost nothing against a board with no shadow creatures on it, which is most boards. That narrowness is the point. It belongs to the family of answer-cards keyed to a single mechanic, the ones that read as targeted insurance against a specific archetype rather than maindeck staples. When the matchup it was printed for shows up, it shuts the door; when it doesn't, it is a 0/4 that can be persuaded to bite.
