That mechanic cannot exist in a constructed vacuum, because its payoff is keyed to an action that only happens while cards are physically passing between players. The sequencing pressure is the whole design: commit to it and you commit to telegraphing your very next pick, narrowing your options with each choice you delay. It asks you to read the cards flowing past you rather than assemble a deck after the fact. The 6/4 for seven is deliberately forgettable, a body you tolerate to reach the ability that matters, which is the free cast of whatever name you noted.
