The flier's own evasion is almost incidental; the design lives in the attack trigger, which hands flight to another attacking creature for the turn. A mid-sized ground beater accomplishes nothing against a wall of blockers, but put flight on it mid-swing and the arithmetic of the combat step changes, with the keyword landing on a body far larger than the fragile 2/2 granting it. The timing is the tax. The trigger fires only when this creature attacks, so the gift is welded to your own red zone and to a single beneficiary per swing: never a defensive tool, never a way to slip two threats past a clogged board in one turn. You buy the evasion by pledging a soft attacker to combat every time you want the effect, a running cost a flying-granting enchantment would not charge. That committed, single-target, offense-only shape marks its lane. It wants one large, hard-to-block threat rather than a swarm: a fatty the trigger lifts over a stalled ground turn after turn, or a lord-sized attacker whose damage suddenly stops being chumped. Handing flight to one creature is worthless in a deck that wins by going wide, and pointed at a genuine haymaker it is worth the tempo you sink into the drake. It only ever delivers to one address at a time, so the address had better be worth the trip.
