Accomplished Automaton

Seven mana for a 5/7 that climbs, at best, to a 6/8 is the rate fixed-rarity commons are built to fill: a large defensive body with just enough decision attached to keep it from being inert. Fabricate is the wrinkle that earns the slot, splitting the difference between a vanilla beater and a token-maker the moment it enters. Take the counter and you get a 6/8 that blanks most ground attackers; take the Servo and you get a 5/7 plus a 1/1 to chump, crew, or feed an artifact-matters payoff. Neither line is dramatic, but the choice is real, and it is the kind of low-stakes branch that teaches a player to read the board before a trigger resolves. As a piece of construction this is fabricate at its most honest: the mechanic was designed to give artifact creatures a flexible floor, and on a body this slow and this large, that flexibility is the only thing separating it from pure filler. It anchors a deck that wants to grind and counts as a body for a deck that wants artifact critical mass; subtract those two uses and it is a brick, and the design is built knowing it.
