Abyssal Gorestalker
Symmetry is the wrinkle worth studying here. A 6/6 body enters and forces every player, its controller included, to sacrifice two creatures. Read cold that looks like a wash: you pay six mana and a two-creature tax to inflict the same tax on everyone else. The design only comes alive when you break the symmetry, and black has spent decades building the tools to do it. Sacrifice fodder does the obvious work, feeding two throwaway bodies to the trigger while an opponent gives up something they cannot spare. And that is the real seam: because each player chooses what to sacrifice, the edict bites deepest against a narrow, top-heavy board, where the opponent's only creatures are the ones that matter and every token cushion has been picked away. A player who cared little about creatures, whose only bodies were expendable, pays almost nothing. Note that the Gorestalker is on the battlefield when its own trigger resolves, so it counts among your candidates: if it is your only creature, you feed it back to itself, which is precisely why an empty board is no dodge. The trigger fires on entry, so recursion and blink loops turn a one-shot edict into a repeating attrition engine, where a fair-looking body starts warping games. What keeps it honest is the timing demand: this cannot pick its victims, and a controller who fires it into their own aristocrats board strips their engine as readily as an opponent's blockers. It belongs to the older tradition of symmetrical black attrition, punishing the table evenly and rewarding whoever built to lose the least.
