A-Uurg, Spawn of Turg

Legendary Creature — Frog BeastBlack manaBlack manaGreen mana

A creature whose power lives entirely in your graveyard is a familiar bargain, but the meter here is lands specifically, which reframes the whole build. Fetches, sacrificed duals, self-mill, and the card's own upkeep surveil all feed a counter that starts at zero and only climbs, so the body reads as a passive scoreboard for how much land you have already spent. The surveil 2 does double duty: it smooths draws while quietly filling the very resource that grows the frog, meaning the engine that improves your hand and the engine that grows your threat are the same trigger. The sacrifice ability is where the design closes the loop, converting each spent land into two life at the cost of a generic mana and the land itself and, crucially, feeding the graveyard count as it goes. You are not throwing lands away; you are moving them from the battlefield to the stat line while buying life along the way. The tension in the design is that the power scales with attrition rather than tempo: an early game of this does very little, and the payoff arrives only once you have committed to churning your own mana base into the yard. That makes it a patient card in a color pair built for grinding, where sacrificing lands is not a concession but the plan.
