A-Rockslide Sorcerer

Creature — Human Wizard Sorcerer2 generic manaRed mana

The Wizard payoff that quietly rewrote the pinger template. The classic model (Prodigal Sorcerer and its descendants) ties the ping to a tap ability, one point per turn, gated by summoning sickness and vulnerable to any removal before it comes online. This version discards the tap entirely and hangs the damage off a cast trigger instead, which changes what the card asks of your deck. It does nothing while you hold cards; it snowballs the moment you start chaining spells, because a single turn of cheap instants and sorceries stacks pings the way a tap-based pinger never could. The Wizard-spell clause matters too: the trigger fires on creature spells that happen to be Wizards, not just noncreature spells, so a curve of Wizard bodies keeps the engine ticking even when your hand runs dry of burn. That triple condition (instant, sorcery, or Wizard) is a deliberate signal about which archetype this creature was built to anchor: a spellslinger-tribal hybrid where every card you play doubles as a fraction of a burn spell. The 2/2 body is fragile by design, since the whole value proposition is the trigger, not the beatdown, and any opponent who leaves it alive is agreeing to take incremental damage on a clock that accelerates with each spell you cast.
